Finding the best homes for our pets.

Adopting a new pet is an incredibly exciting time! You'll go shopping for their new toys and bed, and you'll take a million photos of them lying in the very same position.... And so there are lots of things you need to consider when welcoming your new family member.

Some of the questions you need to ask include:

Can I afford a pet?

Animals not only have upfront costs, but ongoing costs such as food and vet care. Certain breeds and types also have higher maintenance costs, such as grooming.

Will I be able to look after this pet for its whole life?

Depending on the breed and health of the animal, you will most likely have it for between 10 and 20 years. It's important to understand this is a long term commitment.

Does my lifestyle suit having a pet?

If you work long hours, have a very active social life or travel often, you need to consider who will look after your pet in your absence. Animals thrive on human company, and are totally dependent on you.

Is my home set up for a pet?

You don't need to have a huge property, but making sure you have enough space both inside and out is key. Secure fencing is also important with dogs. Don't forget if you live in a rental property to check with your landlord if pets are allowed before you adopt.
